A guest post by Helen from Red Hairdressing, Orpington.

Here at Red we are always looking forward to the year ahead and what that means for hair.

As most of you can relate, 2021 was spent trying to get your strands fighting fit after many months of not seeing your stylist.

But now that we’ve jumped into the new year we believe this is going to be a year for big hair changes.

These are our predictions for the key hair trends for 2022.

The Mixie

Sitting somewhere between a mullet and a pixie crop, a shorter style that’s very versatile but venturing away from the shaved/harder lines.

The key to the mixie is to ensure it’s full of texture.

Work a styling pomade or wax into the roots for an tousled, edgy look.

The French Bob

The Bob never gets tired, there’s never such a thing as a bad Bob, but the French Bob will be particularly huge this year.

It’s all about lived in volume and texture with this style.

To achieve this try look try some light weight mousse or super light styling foam.

The 70’s Blonde

While 70’s cuts were everywhere in 2021, this year we’ll be taking retro inspiration for hair colour in the salon. Especially when it comes to bleach and toners.

Think honey-hued blonde shades against layered hair with heaps of volume and choppy bangs, The colour tends to be slightly creamy, with softer butterscotch tones, offering a fresh take on a classic retro style.

Natural curls & Texture

Texture in all forms will dominate the hair world this year.

If you’ve been toying with the idea of styling your natural curls for a while, take this as your sign that now is the time, embrace those curls.
