Now that Christmas and 2021 are over, it’s a good time to pick things up with your house project. There is something heart-warming about making changes to your home that are well overdue to uplift your mood and serve your needs better. You’ll be able to ditch the frustration and enjoy your most personal environment in ways you hadn’t before.
I’m a firm believer that our home contributes greatly to how we feel within ourselves. Whether the changes are big or small, they’ll all add up towards your joy.

Here are 3 simple suggestions that can make all the difference:
- Change the art/photos you have on your walls if you’ve got used to them. You’ll see the room take a new life and notice yourself catching a glimpse of the joy the new ones bring.
- Do you have tired cushions on your sofa and bed? Why not get new covers that are completely different to your current ones? Cushions make a huge difference to large furniture and they don’t cost a lot.
- Cupboard handles and knobs add detail to solid furniture. Change these and watch your furniture gain new character.
Remember to give away or sell online anything that’s in good condition rather than disposing of them. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.

If you are looking to make bigger changes to your home, have a think about the below:
Has your life changed in a way your house needs to accommodate? We are increasing creating multi-functional space to accommodate practical needs and convenience. Home gyms, home office, playrooms, homework areas, hobby space etc are all becoming part of our lives. Whether you have a spare room that needs a better purpose or you’re making room for your needs, it can be done.
Bringing the outdoor inside has proven to impact our wellbeing positively. Be it in the tones of material you pick for your interiors, plants (both real and artificial), clutter free and airy spaces… there is no doubt well thought designs and elements that give you a sense of nature can boost happiness and comfort.
Last but not least, sustainability. Mindful sourcing of products and how we use them allows us to do our part for the planet. Over the recent years, manufacturers and retails have brought a balance between sustainability, design and price which makes it easier to be environmentally friendly and enjoy our home all at the same time.
At KaVaRa Interior Design, we help our clients create a home that’s truly theirs with bespoke designs, by addressing their individual needs, lifestyle and taste. We want your home to welcome you back with open arms every time you walk through the door for the years to come.
